Due to the variety of classes taught within the spaces, the client required flexibility within the furniture to allow for small and large learning groups. This included bespoke booths which can act as a private working area or a space for collaborative discussions. The finishes chosen were to be functional and long-lasting considering the end users whilst offering a positive learning atmosphere. With the space being used for Social Care, the colourways selected provided a calm environment which was an integral part of the design. Safety enhancements were also a priority, with significant work done on the balcony, including raising the handrail to meet safety standards

The refurbishment encompassed two training rooms, two classrooms, a training suite, three counselling rooms, a staff room, a staff workspace, and an office. External windows were refurbished to prevent leaks, radiators were removed and reconfigured, and the fire alarm system along with fire extinguishing equipment was upgraded to comply with the latest fire safety regulations. A safe access system to the roof was installed, replacing the previous open ladder with a secure structure featuring indicator lighting. The project also introduced a new energy-efficient LED lighting scheme, contemporary furniture, and added greenery to create a welcoming and functional environment for both students and staff.
