Refurbishment
The Works
This scheme comprised the full strip‑out and refurbishment of a bereavement room within an active maternity ward, delivered to create a calm, dignified, and supportive environment for families. The works focused on transforming an outdated space into a modern, compliant, and clinically functional setting while maintaining ward‑operational requirements.
The project commenced with a complete strip‑out of all existing finishes, fixtures, fittings, and redundant services. Following removal, the room was reinstated with new flooring, wall finishes, and ceiling systems designed to meet healthcare durability and hygiene standards. Updated fixtures and fittings were installed throughout, including medical‑grade fitted furniture such as a compartment bed, integrated storage units, and wardrobes. Six BM TRADA‑certified fire‑rated door sets were also installed to ensure full compliance with fire‑safety requirements.
The Works
New LED lighting was provided to all areas, including a central skylight‑effect feature to support a calming atmosphere. Power upgrades were completed throughout, and a nurse‑call system was installed within the ensuite to maintain clinical safety standards. Mechanical works included alterations to existing pipework to accommodate a new IPS‑integrated sink and taps, along with the installation of a new shower enclosure. Medical gas services were integrated into the bespoke fitted bedroom furniture, and comprehensive fire‑stopping works were undertaken to maintain compartmentation.
