Refurbishment
The Works
The refurbishment of Sharston Ambulance Station was carried out to improve facilities for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), creating a modern, efficient, and fully operational environment for emergency service staff.
We liaised closely with the NWAS Estates and FM team from the outset to understand the operational requirements and specific needs of the space. This collaboration informed the redesign of an existing garage space, which was reimagined to incorporate new showers and locker facilities. The layout and use of the existing building were reconfigured to ensure better usability and flow for the NWAS team. A new feature green, reflective of the signature NWAS uniform, was introduced to add character and reinforce brand identity within the space.
Initial construction work focused on structural improvements, including the installation of new foundations for brickwork infill. Blackout film was applied, and windows were either removed or blocked up. Insulated panels were installed, and internal walls were patched and prepared. Partition walls were constructed and boarded, and first-fix mechanical and electrical systems were installed.

The Works
The interior fit-out phase included new blockwork, roller shutter infills, and continued partitioning. Internal spaces were plastered, mist-coated, and decorated. Joinery was installed in phases, including door frames, skirting, and final fittings. Additional works included the installation of sanitary ware, kitchen fixtures, and ceiling construction.
We carefully reviewed all existing material specifications to ensure their suitability and introduced new materials where required. Throughout the project, we maintained continual communication with both the commercial and operations teams to ensure timely and successful delivery.
Final stages included second-fix M&E works, installation of ceiling tiles and windows, final decorations, and full flooring installation. A deep clean was completed ahead of the client’s pre-handover inspection.
External works were also undertaken, including the installation of new drainage systems, replacement of fascias and soffits, installation of a gas cage, and the erection of a barrier outside the mess room. Temporary cabins were removed, and the site was fully reinstated.
This comprehensive refurbishment has delivered an enhanced, purpose-built facility that supports the essential work of NWAS personnel.
