Greenmount Projects delivered the refurbishment of the Business School podium area at Manchester Metropolitan University, creating a new dedicated Careers hub designed to support student development and engagement. The scheme reconfigured the existing space to provide a range of functional environments, including an open plan working area, enterprise lounge, private interview rooms and individual lone working spaces, forming a modern and flexible facility within the Business School.

The project comprised a comprehensive internal refurbishment, including new ceilings, flooring, decoration and bespoke joinery installations throughout. Structural modifications were undertaken to support the revised layout, including the installation of new structural steelwork. New glazed screens and doors were introduced to create defined yet visually connected spaces, while feature walls and ceiling treatments enhanced the overall interior aesthetic and reinforced the identity of the new Careers environment.

Mechanical and electrical works included the installation and modification of services including small power, lighting, data infrastructure, plumbing and ventilation systems. Audio-visual systems were integrated throughout the facility to support digital engagement, presentations and interviews, with services carefully coordinated within the ceiling and partition layouts to maintain the quality of the finished spaces.

Furniture was supplied and installed, including both bespoke and loose furniture solutions tailored to the different functional areas. This included furniture for collaborative working zones, interview rooms and breakout spaces, ensuring the facility was fully equipped and ready for use while supporting flexible working and student interaction.

Further enhancements included improvements to the building’s atrium and the creation of a new internal storage area to support the operational needs of the space. External works were also undertaken to accommodate the installation of a new sliding entrance door, including paving alterations and associated groundworks to improve access and connectivity to the refurbished Careers hub.
