Refurbishment
Ground Floor Works
The ground floor Refectory underwent refurbishment and reconfiguration to integrate a reception area, waiting space, and enhanced security solutions. Additionally, the café area was upgraded, featuring new seating arrangements, bespoke banquet seating, and movable furniture. The project included the installation of new lighting, ventilation systems, and the rebalancing of the entire ground floor heating system. Furthermore, updates were made to the flooring, break-out zones were introduced, and the space was redecorated throughout. Indoor planting areas and toilets were also refurbished and renewed as part of the overall improvements.
First & Second Floor Works
On the 1st floor, the executive area underwent refurbishment, incorporating new accessible windows, refreshment spaces with updated furniture, and the installation of data and power outlets, as well as interactive whiteboards. The floor also saw the addition of new teaching classrooms, open research areas, and rest areas. Collaborating with Wigan NHS, a replica of a live hospital ward was created for student learning purposes, complete with replica individual bed stations.
As part of the 2nd floor refurbishment, teaching rooms tailored for students enrolled in Construction and IT courses were renovated. The upgrade encompassed all electrical data and power circuits, including the installation of new data cabinets. Furthermore, finishes and new glazed partitions were installed, establishing collaboration areas and individual meeting rooms. Bespoke desks and furniture, as specified by our Design Team, were included to meet the client's requirements.
