Refurbishment
The Works
A refurbishment of a CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) unit was carried out with the primary goal of creating a soothing environment for both patients and staff. This project involved updating 42 individual rooms, all communal areas including WC’s, a sensory room, and the reception area, aiming to strike a balance between tranquility and functionality. The updates sought to make the CAMHS unit a safe and supportive space, creating an atmosphere conducive to mental health care.
The refurbishment introduced comprehensive updates across several key areas within the facility. Each of the rooms received fresh decoration and new flooring, giving them a contemporary look and feel.
The sensory room was also created through significant structural and design adjustments. By removing a stud partition wall and relocating the doorway, the sensory room was formed. Special lighting panels displaying an outdoor sky image were installed to create a relaxing ambience, which supports mindfulness practices and sensory therapy.
The Works
The reception area, which serves as the first point of contact for visitors, was updated to ensure a welcoming experience, while the hallways received similar refreshing updates to maintain continuity and cohesion throughout the facility. In some office spaces, new power and data points were added, improving functionality and meeting the technological needs of staff members.
Since it was essential for the CAMHS unit to remain operational throughout the refurbishment, the project was carefully divided into eight zones. This phased approach allowed work to proceed in one section at a time, minimising disruptions and enabling both safety and the continued provision of care within the facility.
Client Feedback
"I would just like to send an email to express how pleased I am with Lee and his team who have completed the Bolton CAMHS refurbishment works for Greater Manchester Mental Health.
Firstly, the feedback from the service has been outstandingly positive, the staff felt nothing was to big of an ask, any worries where listened to and rectified, all staff have respected the unique environment and obviously completed some very high level of work which I am very pleased with.
Also, Lee has been fantastic to work with, the service probably don’t see how much work Lee does in the background so I want to make sure positive feedback gets to him personally, Lee has managed this project with excellent skill and has represented your company brilliantly, I will look forward to working with Lee on future projects!"
